Technical Competitions
The purpose of having this competition is to highlight the ability of UNITEN students handling the technical jobs as well as to show their creative ideas. At the same time, the competitions may attract the attention of the companies by showing the technical skills of UNITEN students and increase the percentage of student to get hired. Furthermore, the student will have the opportunity to share their ideas and present them in a logical way.

- The participants will need to trace the output using smartphones .
- The judging of the competition is based on the number of correct output given by the participant.
- The participants who can answer the most questions in shortest duration will win this competition
- The participants can access soft copy or any materials
- The participants cannot ask the judges for answers to the questions or ask for opinions from other groups
- Participants who fail to obey the rules and regulations will be terminated immediately.
Paper Plane Competition

Details:
The participants need to build a paper plane within the minimal material options and within the time limit set. The time limit is 20 minutes. The judges will finish the judging within 20 minutes. Points are accumulated by the number of successful paper plane flying attempts through the obstacles set. The highest points accumulated by the participants will be counted as the winner. Bonus points are given by the judge for the most creative design. The participants has 3 attempts to try their planes before the competition starts. Each participant has only 2 chances to fly their planes through the obstacle set. Only the highest scores within the set are taken.
Rules and Regulations:
- The participants cannot access any online materials
- The participants are advised to not bring their smartphones with them during the competition.
- The participants cannot seek for advice and opinions from the judge and other groups.
- The participants can only use the materials prepared by the organizers.
- Participants who fail to obey the rule and regulations will be terminated from the competition.
Straw Bridge Competition

- This competition required the participants to build a bridge model by using straw and tape.
- The bridge model must be able to withstand a value of loadings.
- The creativity and knowledge of the participants will be tested as no telecommunication devices are allowed to be used during the competition.
- Following are the diagram to give the visualization of the competition.
Timeslot
- The 1 hour time given by the organizer will be devided into 4 sections which are:
5 minutes - Q&A session
20 minutes - Building and construction bridge model
25 minutes - Testing and judging session.
Rules and regulation:
- Each participating team, consisting of 2 members is to construct a bridge model using the materials supplied by the organizer. The materials and tools provided are as follows;
- 50 pieces of straw
- 1 tape
The requirements in the building the model are as follows;
- The length of the bridge model must be at least 20cm.
- No specific value for the width of the bridge model.
- No specific value for the mass of the bridge model.
- The bridge model will be tested in between 20cm span (or more) between 2 tables. (Refer the illustration diagram)
- All the participants must stop constructing within the given period of time which is 20 minutes.
- All completed models must be able to support the loadings. Participants are required to bring the completed model on the testing table for the load testing. During the transit, any damage on the model to the extent where it cannot be tested will not be entertained.
- An empty hanger will be put on bottom of the bridge model to hang on the weigths. The bridge model must be able to withstand the weights together with the hanger.
- Each team will work in complete isolation without using any telecommunication devices (such as handphones) or any help from outside parties. Participants that fail to obey these rules will be disqualified.
- Model Measurement, Load Testing
- The length of the bridge model must be at least 20 cm which will be measured at the testing table.
- Then, the loads will be applied by putting the weigth one by one on the empty hanger on bottom of the bridge model.
- Failure is defined by:
- Collapse of the bridge model.
- The bridge model topples over in any direction
- The length of the bridge model is shorter than the span between the two books.
